Rodie's Parkway Restaurant
About This Spot
Rodie's Parkway Restaurant feels like a heartfelt pause from the rush of everyday life—a welcoming corner where time slows just enough to savor familiar flavors and genuine moments. Nestled in the quieter stretch of West Jefferson, this American eatery carries the easy rhythm of a place where neighbors gather, stories are shared over morning coffee, and the hum of friendly conversations fills the air.
Step inside, and you’re greeted by the subtle warmth of a no-frills dining room where the focus is purely on comfort and connection. The pace here is unhurried, a gentle reminder that good food is worth waiting for, especially when it comes crafted fresh and with care. You might find the smell of sizzling breakfast fare mingling with the faint, nostalgic aroma of perfectly fried okra or just-made biscuits.
The menu is thoughtfully homestyle—each dish a kind of invitation to linger. Morning brings the soft flutter of pancakes, the hearty presence of biscuits and gravy, and all the little details that make a simple breakfast feel like a small celebration. Later, plates piled with hand-cut fries or house-made onion rings accompany classics like bacon cheeseburgers and country fried steak, all served alongside the kind of side salads or slaw that feel just right—a balance of familiar and satisfying.
What Rodie’s truly offers is that rare slice of local life, where the staff’s warm, no-nonsense hospitality feels more like an old friend’s kitchen than a restaurant. The small team juggling orders behind the counter lends a quiet charm to the experience—you’re reminded that this is a neighborhood gem powered by care rather than speed or spectacle.
For those passing through or settling in for a meal, Rodie’s is a gentle invitation to slow down and enjoy the kind of honest food and conversation that don’t often find their way into polished travel guides but live at the heart of any community worth exploring.

Working in the area and I had to use the restroom.. im a firm believer in making a purchase before I use an establishments bathroom… it was early morning around 7am.. so I go in grab a menu and get to looking over it … now first thing I see is they have grits .. 2nd thing I see is the prices are bomb.. so I get a chicken biscuit breakfast sandwich. I go to pay it was around 3 and some change so I left a little tip .. anyway i go to eat my biscuit . And baby when I tell you that biscuit was smooth buttery and soft . I told my whole crew we need to go back .. if not I will be solo ..

We are in Jefferson for a month. Neighbors recommended the 20 minute drive to Rodie’s and they were not wrong. This is a no frills spot with good food! The flounder sandwich and the hot dogs all the way accompanied by sweet potato fries and onion rings were great. If you are in a hurry this is not the spot for you. All orders are made to order. Nothing sits around waiting for the next customer. I wish I would have taken some pictures inside and out. Worth the short drive from Jefferson. Enjoy!

Rodie's is not for those "vacationers" seeking froo-froo fancy. This is good ol' locals with family fare. If you want that kind of happy company, good solid homestyle comfort food fixed to order... and you understand it's seldom got more than 2 or 3 handling everything (so be patient), then this is a real gem - a jewel from days gone by. Too bad it's a little off our normal paths, but we used to frequent the old location right often and will try to visit here more often.

Please don't pass this restaurant by, very friendly service, down home cooking. A wonderful group of courteous people! Update 9/6/2025 Breakfast was outstanding:my husband had the Philly steak & cheese Omelet, Hash browns & a pancake, I had the Western Omelet, Hash browns. Everything was hot & delicious. The service is always superb & the staff are all very friendly & efficient!

128 miles into our journey along the Mountain-to-Sea Trail and this is exactly what we needed. The club sandwich hit the spot and Laken provided excellent service. This place needs to be protected at all costs!

My family and I have ate here for years. The food, especially the cheeseburgers and the corn nuggets, is delicious! Great prices. Staff are always great for a conversation and just darling with my children. They offer seating inside and outside (picnic tables). They offer a full menu plus a standing cooler that changes weekly with homemade desserts and an ice cream cooler.

Really really great food! Wonderful service. Surprisingly good food for the size of the place. The atmosphere is a bit kitschy. Older booths but comfortable. We had breakfast. Bacon was so perfectly cooked! Great veggie omelet with mushrooms. Green pepper. Tomatoes. Onion. Toast was buttered with (get this) real butter! Lots of jams and jellies right at the table. Quite fast too. I'd like to try them for dinner some day.
